A TOEFL score is not required for admission to Edmonds. Instead, students take the Edmonds English Placement assessment upon arrival, and are then placed in appropriate classes. For students who want or need to enhance their English skills, we provide a full range of classes, and you can take college classes while completing the higher-level English as a Second Language coursework.

- Academic Emphasis:
* 5 Levels, from Beginning to Advanced
* Required Classes - Grammar, Reading, Writing, and Speaking / Listening
* Special Classes (in Levels 4 and 5) - TOEFL Preparation, Pronunciation, Spelling and Vocabulary, English through Movies, College Preparation, ESL and Community Service
* Computer labs equipped with Internet and e-mail
- Short-Term Programs:
* Designed to meet the needs of educational institutions, agencies, and private and public companies abroad by providing short-term study programs
* Programs include ESL, special interest classes such as Computers, Travel / Tourism, Business, and recreational activities as well as homestays
* Prices vary depending on the type of activity, the size of the group and the time of the year

* Edmonds' High School Completion Program allows students to earn both high school and college credits at the same time. This individualized program requires advanced English skills (equivalent of 480 TOEFL) to enroll. Students without 480 TOEFL may be required to take ESL classes. Students' current academic credentials are evaluated to determine the length of the program -- this is an individualized program. Students must be at least 16 years old. Required classes include English, Math, Science, Social Science, Occupational Education, Physical Education, Fine Arts and electives. A high school diploma is issued by Edmonds Community College.
* Edmonds' University Transfer Degree Program enables students to earn a two-year degree to transfer to a four-year university. Transfer degrees satisfy the general education requirements at all Washington state public universities and most public and private universities in the U.S.:
- Associate of Arts: Business, Liberal Studies, Architecture and others
- Associate of Science - Track 1: Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geology and Earth Science
- Associate of Science - Track 2: Engineering, Computer Science, Physics and Atmospheric Science
- Associate of General Studies

* Our Neighborhood: Students can walk to find anything they need. The neighborhood near campus has many apartments, a post office, banks, small restaurants, grocery stores, book stores, laundromat, sports and clothing stores, and many more shops. You don't need a car to enjoy life near campus. The Seattle metropolitan area is within 20 minutes of the Edmonds Community College campus:

- Sonics basketball, Mariners baseball, and Seahawks football
- Theaters, the symphony and art galleries, skiing, boating, water recreation, and mountain hiking
